WESTERN COLORADO DRAGWAY

115 32 ROAD / PO BOX 760

CLIFTON, CO 81520

Dear Business Owner:

Western Colorado Dragway joined with area business’s in 2008 and proved that they are a wise investment for their advertising dollars.

2008 BEST YEAR EVER!

We did it again! Despite the high cost of fuel and the gloomy economy we grew in 2008.

Let’s face it – people have to spend money on housing, fuel, and food. But they CHOOSE to race or attend races. We are pleased with our growth figures.

RACER COUNTS UP 10% OVER LAST YEAR

SPECTATOR COUNTS UP 29% OVER LAST YEAR

OVER 10,000 PEOPLE CHOSE TO SPEND TIME AT OUR FACILITY IN 2008

These are numbers any business in Mesa County could be proud of – and we ARE!

And that’s just part of it. Thousands more heard our radio ads and saw our television commercials. Many visit our website and attend our car show and swap meet. We are out there in the public eye and our image is that of a business dedicated to an all-American sport that is family friendly.

Tourism Fact: 28% of Friday racers and spectators come from outside Mesa County

Tourism Fact: 35% of Saturday racers and spectators come from outside Mesa County

Tourism Fact: In 2008 we served an average 186 racers per weekend (up 10%)

Tourism Fact: In 2008 we served an average of 664 spectators per weekend (up 29%)

Those figures mean that we are importing dollars into Mesa County and providing a fun weekend for 850 people. Once those people are in our gates they are reading our printed race program, seeing our billboards, listening to our private music loop naming sponsors, and hearing our special event, class and lane sponsors announced repeatedly. This creates a positive link between attendees and your business!

THE WORD IS OUT ABOUT 2009…

We have just completed a major overhaul of our concrete starting line and launch pad. Racers from all over are hearing about our great new asphalt race surface and pit improvements. We are tweaking our schedule, upgrading our concession choices, and working hard to enhance the spectator experience. We have every reason to expect even more growth this coming season.

Please consider advertising with us in 2009. We think you’ll find those dollars are well spent!

OUR ORGANIZATION:

Western Colorado Dragway is a unique facility. Our racer association rents the land from Mesa County. Improvements and season expenses are paid for via sponsorships, fundraisers, membership fees, and gate fees. The track is governed by an elected board of directors. We have a paid, seasonal staff of approximately 2 dozen; and have created a business alliance with a half dozen other local businesses who directly benefit from our events. The Western Colorado Drag Racer’s Association is a non-profit 501c4 corporation. All monies are either used to pay the year to year expenses or to improve the facility. It is only through this cooperative effort that we are able to offer NHRA drag racing in western Colorado. Tax ID #: 84-1301908

FRIDAY RACES:

In 2002 we started a Friday night program targeting young racers. Attendees are charged only $7 to enter the facility and $13 if they want to race their car. This gives the local hot rodders an appropriate, cheap, and safe place to show off their muscle; and hundreds of their friends an inexpensive evening of entertainment. Sometimes there were more spectators at this event than our bigger programs. We consider it a great success and a service to the community.

SATURDAY RACES:

Saturdays are dedicated to NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) bracket racing. We are the only drag strip within a 250 mile radius (Denver and Salt Lake City are the nearest drag strips). Each year we attract more “high end” racers. Racers can easily have $50,000 or more tied up in their tow vehicles, trailers, and race equipment – before they ever spend a dollar on their actual race car! On any given Saturday it is fair to state that we have well over $1 million dollars worth of vehicles competing – some at speeds of up to 200 miles per hour. We have regular racers who travel from Glenwood Springs, Rifle, Rangely, Denver, Farmington, Cortez, Vernal and Salt Lake City. Racer occupations vary widely, but it takes a fair amount of disposable income to indulge in the sport.

These people want to know about your business

and they have money to spend!

 2009 FRIDAY EVENT SPONSORSHIP:

Cost $5000 (includes 11 radio name mentions)

Cost $10,000 (includes 11 full radio packages)

In conjunction with our 12 regular bracket races per year we will hold 11 Friday night events: (see schedule). The first 10 events all have the same format – street legal cars from 9-midnight. Our 11th event is “Final Friday”. It is a jackpot race that includes both race cars and street cars. A $400 purse is offered: $200 winner, $100 runner-up, $50 semi-finals.

The NHRA Street Legal Drags are underwritten nationwide by AAA who recognizes the value of the “race the strip – not the street” message. They provide us with brochures and stickers for winning drivers and those who attain 100 miles per hour.

The Colorado State Patrol has also come on board and will have a car present at least 4 races for an unstructured “Race A Cop” program. They also recognize the value of interacting with these younger racers.

Our Friday races are a casual format. Racers pair themselves and run grudge only. There is no prize money and no one is eliminated. They choose their opponent, make their run, and line up again. The majority of our Friday street racers are in the 18-35 age range and the preference is for smaller import cars, motorcycles, and diesel trucks.

What WCDRA will do for you: Your sponsored events are held on Friday nights prior to our Saturday bracket races. As a sponsor you would be listed on our 2009 race schedule (widely distributed), on our website (could offer a direct link to your website), named in event radio advertising, announcer mentions throughout the event, and any flyers distributed. Full billboards (4’x8’) are hung on the north side of the track surface facing the grandstands. In addition, all sponsors are part of our private music/commercial broadcast during our events.

If you so desired, we could distribute flyers directly to everyone who entered our gates on that day. You could also bring vehicles to display and/or a vehicle to compete. We can provide vouchers for you to distribute to customers for free racing. The Friday sponsor also receives 100 free passes to distribute to your clients and staff. Those passes are good for any event – not just your sponsored event.

What we want from the sponsor:

$5000:        Your business name would be included in all our radio advertising along with our Saturday event sponsors.

$10,000:     We would create a whole separate radio package just for our Friday Street Legal Drags and you would be prominently named in that advertising.

We need two business cards as well
